Privacy Policy

1. Who we are and what we do

Petive is a premium care coordination application designed to help solo pet owners, families, and sitters manage pet care routines, health metrics, and community interactions.

2. Information we collect

Account details: Name, email address, avatar, and preferred units.

Pet profile and health details: Pet name, species, breed, birthday or age, current weight, photo, allergies, routine targets, and owner-entered vaccination, appointment, treatment, observation, and lab or test records.

App activity and community data: Care logs, reminders, household membership, community posts, comments, polls, and support messages.

Apple Watch and walk data: If you start an outdoor walk, Petive processes workout duration, distance, pace, and the pee or poop events you tap. With your separate permission, Apple Watch also processes location samples to create a route in Apple Health.

Device and analytics data: If enabled, device information, app version, performance metrics, and crash reports to improve reliability.

What we DON'T collect: We do not collect or store your full payment card number. All iOS purchases and subscriptions are handled directly by Apple. Petive does not upload raw GPS coordinates, Apple Health samples, heart rate, or calorie data to Petive servers.

3. How we use information

We use your information to provide the Petive app, sync household care records in real time, deliver reminders and transactional account emails, display pet profiles, enable the community feed, manage purchases, and improve the product.

Apple Watch and HealthKit: The Watch companion receives the pets, schedules, daily progress, and household status needed for wrist logging. Completed care actions sync back to your Petive household. If you choose a tracked outdoor walk, Petive saves a Walking workout and route to Apple Health and syncs only the pet-linked summary—start and end time, duration, distance, average pace, and pee/poop counts—to Petive. HealthKit information is used only for app functionality and is never used for advertising, marketing, data brokerage, or AI training.

AI Features: If you explicitly enable Luna data sharing, Petive sends your message, up to six recent Luna messages, and the selected pet's name, species, breed, age, weight, and allergies to Groq through a Petive Supabase Edge Function. Groq processes that information using the OpenAI GPT-OSS 20B model hosted on GroqCloud to generate a response. Do not include information about people in Luna messages.

Community Safety: Before public profile text, posts, comments, replies, or polls are published, Petive sends that text to Groq through a Petive Supabase Edge Function for classification using the OpenAI GPT-OSS Safeguard 20B model. Photo posting is disabled in this release while Petive completes a production image-safety integration.

AI Consent, Training, and Retention: Luna remains unavailable until you choose Allow and Continue in the app. You can withdraw that permission at any time in Settings, which prevents new Luna information from being sent. Petive does not use Luna messages, pet records, or community text to train or fine-tune its own or third-party AI models, and Petive does not submit this data through Groq fine-tuning features. Groq states that inference inputs and outputs are not retained by default, but may be temporarily logged for service reliability or abuse investigations for up to 30 days unless Zero Data Retention applies.

4. Cookies and tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies for analytics and to provide our web dashboard.

• Analytics (GA4): Used to understand how people use Petive. You can opt out via your device or browser settings.

• Crashlytics: Used to monitor app crashes and performance.

• AdMob: Free-tier users may see ads. Google AdMob uses identifiers to serve rewarded video ads.

5. Third-party processors

We use trusted service providers to run Petive. These include:

• Supabase: Database and authentication.

• Cloudflare (R2): Secure cloud storage for supported images.

• Apple & RevenueCat: In-app purchases, subscriptions, and entitlement management.

• Google (Firebase, GA4, AdMob): Analytics, crash reporting, and ad delivery for the free tier.

• Resend: Delivery of transactional account emails, such as the welcome message sent after account creation.

• Groq: GroqCloud hosts OpenAI GPT-OSS 20B for Luna response generation after explicit consent and OpenAI GPT-OSS Safeguard 20B for pre-publication community text moderation. Groq's data information is available at console.groq.com/docs/your-data.

• Apple HealthKit and Core Location: On Apple Watch, these Apple frameworks provide optional workout and route recording. Raw route data remains in Apple Health and on your devices; Petive's cloud receives summary metrics only.

6. Sharing your information

• Within your household: Pet care records are visible to anyone you invite into your Shared Pack or household.

• Community: Posts, comments, images, polls, and profile details you choose to publish are visible to other users in the community feed.

• Legal compliance: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, users, or pets.

7. Data retention

We retain your account, pet data, care schedules, care logs, and synchronized walk summaries as long as your account is active. Raw workout routes follow Apple Health's storage and deletion controls and are not retained by Petive's cloud. If you delete your Petive account, synchronized walk summaries and pet records are deleted from our active database. Deleting a Petive account does not automatically delete workouts already saved in Apple Health; you can manage those in Apple's Health app. We may retain certain data (like crash logs or aggregated analytics) for up to 14 months, or as required by law.

8. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information.

You can manage your household invitations, community content, and pet details directly in the app.

9. International transfers

Petive operates globally. Your data may be processed in countries outside of your residence, including the United States. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for these transfers.

10. Children's privacy

Petive is not intended for children under 13 (or under 16 in certain regions). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn we have collected such data without verified parental consent, we will delete it.

11. Security

We implement technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including secure Edge Function proxies for AI and storage operations. However, no electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting the new policy in the app and updating the 'Last updated' date.

13. Regional supplements

EEA/UK: Our legal basis for processing your data includes fulfilling our contract with you, your consent, and our legitimate interests. You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

California: We do not 'sell' or 'share' your personal information as defined by the CCPA, except as related to advertising on the free tier via Google AdMob.
